Elevating Indigenous Storytellers in Film and TV with Mary Galloway

April 12 @ 10:00 am - April 13 @ 2:00 pm

This workshop aims to empower Indigenous Performer members and future members, by recognizing the vital contributions of Indigenous performers and culture to the BC film and television industry and by providing tools to navigate both the craft and business of acting.

Key Highlights:

  • Recognition & Empowerment: Celebrating Indigenous performers’ rightful place in the Film industry and their cultural impact.
  • Skill Development: Exploring scene study, text analysis, and character development approaches, guided by veteran actors and coaches Raugi Yu and John Emmet Tracy.
  • Business Insight: Equipping participants with practical tools for navigating the business side of acting.
  • Cultural Support: Providing tools to recognize and navigate trauma and stress related to film and television sets which are often structured in ways that may not align with Indigenous performers’ cultural practices and worldviews.

Please join us in this opportunity to build skills, confidence, and connections while honoring cultural identity in the world of film and television.
