Scene Study, Audition and Improv. The Teen Fundamentals Workshop is a five-day program introducing and finetuning the actor’s audition process for self-tapes and in-person auditions; scene study to hone the skills of connecting with a scene partner and creating character; and improv to get the creative juices flowing, get out of our heads and into our bodies so we can create art in a non-judgmental, safe and fun space!
Day 1: We start with Improv! Let’s get moving and using our imagination. After we’re all feeling comfortable and awake, participants will then do a read through of the Scene Study materials that were sent to them the week before. The basics of breaking down a scene and working with a Scene Partner will be discussed.
Day 2: Participants will put their scenes up for the class as a rehearsal. The instructor will give notes and actors will rework their scenes. Watching each other work will help to hone the skill of taking direction, remind you of the things you know, and refresh forgotten techniques. Audition Scenes will be given out at the end of the day to be rehearsed on Day 3 and performed on Day 4 (theatre style, not on camera).
Day 3: Rehearsals
Day 4: Auditions will be recorded, watched and re-taped. Second audition scenes will be given out for homework.
Day 5: A mock audition on camera followed by fun exercises using the Scene Study scenes already worked on earlier in the week.
